cldwrld - the world in the cloud
Here’s a sketch to represent the idea of cldwrld. The sketch represents me (or you) at a computer with a cable running to cldwrld, the world in the Internet “cloud.”
The way I think about it (roughly), being “in the cloud” means that data and applications sit somewhere on the Internet (and I don’t know exactly where that “somewhere” is) rather than on mine (or your) computer. For more detail see the welcome! section.
cldwrld (the world in the cloud) comprises:
- cloud-based digital communities (like Flickr), some approaching digital countries (like social networks, e.g. Facebook or MySpace),
- virtual representations of Real People (profiles),
- [Personal] cloud-based applications, like Google Docs or Yahoo Mail! or Flickr,
- and cloud-based storage containing our data (that we own or create) and/or our personal information.
